Crazy about Lipstick Tag

Hey there,

So I was planning to put up another Lipstick post this weekend, however I haven't really been wearing lipstick thanks to a cut in my mouth and a little bruise I've got by my lip that I got whilst at work this week. So instead of leaving this week without a blog post I thought I would post a tag. I found this tag on YouTube and I thought that it would be a good one to do.

1. How many lipsticks in your collection?
Please don't make me actually count. I have 50 MAC Lipsticks, 24 other "high end" lipsticks then 7 narrow muji drawers full. Let's just say A LOT.

2. How old were you when you started wearing lipstick?

I don't know the exact age,I wore lipstick since about 15-16. But I wasn't as obsessed as I am until about 5 years ago.

3. What lipstick that you can't live without?

Hmmm... This changes often. Maybe a nice neutral like MAC Faux or Twig.

4. What lipstick do you use to stand out?

Anything that has a bold colour stands out in my village. I do love MAC Rebel and Urban Decay Anarchy when I want to stand out.

5. What were the lipsticks that you bought ?

Erm all of them...apart from a few I've won through giveaways.

6. What lipstick did you regret buying?

MAC Viva Glam Nicki II. I think I got caught by a sales ladies that day.

7. What is your favourite lipstick at the moment?

MAC Faux OR the pairing of MAC Snob Lipstick and Soar Lipliner, which I blogged about HERE.

8. What is the most expensive/inexpensive lipstick that you have ?

Most expensive are my Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks, which are £23 and inexpensive is the Natural Collection Lipsticks, which are £1.99.

9. Do you like, love or addicted to lipstick ?

Well, I have a lot of them as you can see, I don't think that I have enough PLUS I have a blog completely for Lipsticks. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted.

10. What lipstick that remind you of special someone ?

Estee Lauder Pure Envy Lipstick in Desirable reminds me of my oldest friend as I wore it as a bridesmaid for her wedding.

I tag everyone who is reading this. Link me down below if you take part.

Lots of Love,

Long time no see...

Hey there,

So I haven't actually posted on this blog since I finished my month of MAC in August. It's so bad I know but I have an excuse...

There wasn't much lipstick wearing in September, I have worked quite a lot and when I've got in from work tired, achey and now full of cold, my first instinct isn't to apply make up to my face. It's quite the opposite, the make up comes off and the onesie comes on.
Anyway I have decided that with a new month, I need to buck my ideas up and I am planning to post once a week on this blog every Saturday. Any ideas of posts you want to see, let me know in the comments down below.

Thanks for sticking with me.
Lots of Love,

A Month of MAC: MAC Patisserie

Hey there,

Another day, another lipstick.  Today's lipstick is a kind of a newbie in my collection as I've only owned it for a couple of months. It was a lipstick that was totally enabled by watching the YouTube videos of the likes of Anna from Vivianna Loves Make up and Lily Pebbles who have subconsciously been telling me I need this lipstick for a while...

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet MAC Patisserie.

I knew this one would be a little tricky to photograph and I wasn't wrong. You see this Lustre Finish lipstick is pretty much my lip colour apart from it being a touch pinker, which means although it's a perfect lipstick to own in case I want to go wild with my eyes it can be an utter pain to share the colour with you all.

MAC describes Patisserie as a Sheer Creamy Neutral Pink. I have no arguments with this, it is definitely one of the ultimate (sorry I know people hate this term) your lips but better shades.

What do you think of this lipstick? Would you buy it?
If not maybe tomorrow's will be more your thing.

Lots of Love,
Clare

A Month of MAC: MAC Fanfare

Hey there,

So far we have had a summer favourite, Impassioned, and we've had a cold weather favourite, Rebel. Today, I bring you an all rounder that I think all MAC lipstick lovers should have in their collection and that is  MAC Fanfare.

MAC Fanfare Lipstick

Another DSLR selfie...they are the funniest thing to try and photograph yourself.

MAC describes this as a Mid-tone Yellow Pink. I have always described it as a your lips but better. It is very much an easy lip colour to wear as it is a natural looking pink perfect for when you have got a strong eye look but still want a splash of colour on your lips.

This lipstick has a Cremesheen finish, so you know that it will apply nicely and leave an opaque wash of colour over the lips.

So what do you think about this lipstick? Is it one you would buy?
If not maybe tomorrow's lipstick will be your type of lip, who knows?

Lots of Love,

A Month of MAC: MAC Rebel

Hey there,

So after yesterday's very summery pick, today's is the complete opposite, it is a lipstick that I only really wear once it gets colder, when the jumpers are on and the nights get darker a lot quicker.

I guess it shows how varied my collection is that I can go from a very bright pink to this beauty. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet MAC Rebel.

MAC Rebel Lipstick

Look at this selfie, the foundation is a little too dark and I have no eyebrows... you can tell this is an old picture (say a year and a half maybe 2 years ago). Anyway the lipstick although scary in the tube comes out as a beautiful blackberry shade on the lips.

It is described by MAC as a Midtonal Cream Plum, it is the best kind of berry shade for the cooler months and because it is a Satin Finish the colour is there but it isn't as overpowering as say an amplified finish would be.

What do you think? Is this your kind of lipstick?
No? Well maybe tomorrow will be the lipstick of your dreams.

Lots of Love,

My pick of the nudes

Hey there,

You know sometimes you go through phases of buying a certain type of lipstick or a certain colour? Recently I have been a bit of a nude lover... yes I know how that sounds.

When I got asked to be a bridesmaid in my oldest friend's wedding, which happened last month, I went into full lipstick crazed, what will be the perfect wedding lipstick mode. I decided very early on that the lipstick would be a nude, however I wasn't sure what kind of tone nude it would be. So after much research and a few (cough four cough) new purchases, I thought today I'd introduce you to the lipsticks that got taken to the wedding as options and also which one I actually used on the day.

I thought it would be a little long if I lip swatched all 9 lipsticks but rest assured there will probably be individual posts on the lipsticks if you want to see them. So instead of lip swatches I have drawn a little heart for each. So we have six MAC lipsticks to talk about, two from Estee Lauder and a special Charlotte Tilbury one.

Starting of with MAC. I think MAC are a great brand for lipsticks full stop, I mean I have 35 of them now so I think that shows how strong my love for that brand is. Their collection of nude shades is so vast it means that there is a nude for every person. There are the pink nudes such as Patisserie, Viva Glam 5 and Creme Cup. Then there is slightly browner very sheer Hue, the peachy Shy Girl and the more in your face (but still a your lips but better nude) Fanfare completes the MAC team.

Then we move to my current obsession, the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Lipsticks. I only have two called Desirable and Impulsive. Both nude shades, one leaning more pink (Impulsive) and one leaning more brown (Desirable). I love the formula of these lipsticks, they feel luxurious and the lid is magnetic, what more can you ask for. In fact it was Impulsive I wore on the day.

Finally Bitch Perfect from Charlotte Tilbury. Bitch Perfect, as well as being a great name for a lipstick, it is a great nude lip. It again like most of my "nude" lipsticks leans to the pink side as I think that pink tones work better on my skintone. It is a long lasting and it dries nice and semi matte.

So there are some of my favourite "nude" lipsticks. What is yours?

Lots of Love,
Clare

MAC Chatterbox

Hey there,

Long time no see again on this blog, I need to be better at posting on here.

Anyway today I bring you a lipstick that I'm currently loving and it is one that I think will be perfect for the Spring and Summer. That Lipstick is MAC Chatterbox.

MAC Chatterbox Lipstick

MAC Chatterbox is the most perfect cheerful pink you will have ever meet, described on the MAC Website as a "Bright Red -Pink" , it is the perfect mix between a nude pink and the bright crazyness of something like Candy Yum Yum.

Don't be afraid that it says bright, it's not a scary bright, in fact I have suggested this shade to a few of my bright lipstick fearing friends and they have loved and bought it. Below I have left you a picture with me wearing it to show.

See not scary at all... What do you think of this lipstick? Would you buy it?

Lots of Love,

MAC Flat out Fabulous Lipstick

Hey there!

Today I thought I would introduce you to a current lipstick love of mine. It is by MAC (of course) and it's called Flat out Fabulous.

I was first introduced to this lipstick in London at the beginning of January when I went into the Carnaby Street Pro Store to try out a foundation.. cue me sitting in the chair getting new foundation, concealer, powder, blusher, lip liner and lipstick applied. Of course when you are sat in the chair you know you'll have to buy something, so I did.

Two of my purchases were Flat out Fabulous and the matching lip pencil, Magenta. Let's just say dear readers that from the moment these two products were applied it was love. Flat out Fabulous is a Matte Lipstick and is described as a Bright Plum by MAC and Magenta Lip Liner is it's best friend.

You see I had never really been one to use a lip liner, I had never found them useful and they just looked wrong, however my mind has been changed. Magenta lines the lips brilliantly and helps to keep everything in place.

This lipstick-lipliner duo lasted for most of the day on Valentines Day when I first wore it. Meals were eaten, drinks were drunk and only one tiny retouch was needed. I was very impressed.

What do you think?

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in 'Anarchy'

Hello,

Today I thought I would share with you a lipstick I am currently IN LOVE with... this love has come along quickly but it is a love that will be around for a while to come.

The Lipstick in question is the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in the colour Anarchy.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy

I know the face picture is a little out of focus, I was playing around with the camera before I filmed a video but it shows the lipstick colour perfectly.

Buying this lipstick was my first jump into the world of Urban Decay lip products and it is a world that I have to say I am very impressed by. Let's start with the colour itself. Anarchy can only be described as a hot pink, which is perfect for any bright lipstick fanatic like myself. The pigmentation of this lipstick is insane and it is a colour which I think I will be rocking all the way through Spring and well into Summer.

Formula wise, they apply to the lips with no dragging and they feel extremely creamy which I really enjoy in any lipstick. The Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks contain a blend of jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and shea butter, which helps to keeps lips nice and soft and moisturised.

With a super creamy finish, you expect the lasting power to be poor but this is where you are wrong, my dear readers. This lipstick has the staying power of a long lasting thing, I can have a cup of tea and some food with my family and still not have to touch up. In fact, when I recently went into a MAC store to trial a foundation, I had to really scrub my lips to get all the colour off them.

Overall I am super impressed with this lipstick and will definitely be on the look out to getting a few more shades. Have you tried this lipstick or any of the other Urban Decau Revolution Lipsticks? What colours should I look into next?

Lots of Love,

The Lipstick Tag

Hello there,

So I haven't blogged from here since the first day of January. Sorry about that but I've got my butt in gear and bought myself a diary for blogging and I am going to get organised.

Anyway! Today I am posting my answers to the lipstick tag. I have done this tag once before as a YouTube video which I will link HERE but I shall warn you I was a lot more uncomfortable on camera then.

source

So without further a do, here we go the new and updated lipstick tag created by Maxi and answered by me.
                                                1. How many lipsticks do you own?
I counted them this weekend, I have 79 lipsticks all together. I do realise that that is a rather high number for one type of product but what can I say I'm obsessed... I have a blog all about lipstick so thats okay, isn't it?

2. What was your first lipstick?
My first lipstick was Natural Collection Rosebud, a lipstick that I have repurchased many times since. It even has it's own post on this blog, which I shall link HERE. Its just a lovely looking lipstick and it's ridiculously cheap.

3.What is your favourite brand for Lipstick?
I don't think I could say any other brand for this other than MAC. I have 31 of their lipsticks and I love them all individually. I've even created a MAC Lipstick Tag which I shall be unleashing on you all next week.
I feel I need to also give honourable mentions to Revlon and Rimmel too.

4.What is your most worn lipstick?
As I have quite a few lipsticks, there are a few that are worn quite a lot but I'd say my most worn lipsticks are MAC Fanfare and MAC Syrup.

5.What is your favourite finish?
I'm guessing that if you read any of my 30 days 30 lipsticks you will know the answer to this question, I'm a big fan of the creamy lip. Think MAC's Amplified Crème finish or a Rimmel Moisture Renew and you will understand my love.

6. What was the last lip product you bought?
I recently bought three all in one go. I bought MAC Cyber, Illamasqua Pristine and Urban Decay Anarchy.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag?  (Including balms and glosses)
In my work bag, I currently have one lipstick and a lip balm, both of which I need to get out.

8. How do you store your lipsticks?
All my lipsticks are stored in two places. Either in an acrylic lipstick holder (of which I have three) or they are kept in a deep drawer from MUJI.

9.What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
I have to cheat on this one. I have three favourites. Depending on my mood and what red lip I want to rock. I pick either MAC Lady Danger, Maxfactor Ruby Tuesday or MAC Russian Red... all three are equally amazing red lipsticks that everyone should check out.

10.What lip products are you currently lusting after?
I have a few on my lust list. My friend Helen has made me start lusting over a Tom Ford Lipstick. I am also looking at more Urban Decay Lipsticks.

So there you go, the lipstick tag is complete. I tag everyone reading this post to have a go at the tag if you haven't already and make sure you link it below because I'm always eager to read peoples responses.

Lots of Love,

30 Days 30 Lipsticks Day #29 MAC Craving

Hello there,

Today's lipstick was justified in that it matched the top that I'm wearing. I am just that cool!!

MAC Craving

MAC Craving is a colour that I get drawn to a lot when I'm picking a lipstick. I don't know how it has got to day 29 before I've shown it to you.

Craving is a plummy pink colour and it is an amplified creme finish (which we all know is my favourite finish!). This means that the colour pigmentation is great and gives great colour pay off with just one swipe of the bullet. Also, this lipstick normally lasts about 3-4 hours on the lips with me, which as I've said before is about normal for me.

I really like wearing this lipstick, what do you think of it?

Love,

30 Days 30 Lipsticks Day #19 Revlon Black Cherry

Hello there,

What a difference a few days makes. I know it has been two days since my last lipstick, so technically I have failed 30 days 30 lipsticks but I have been suffering from tiredness, a terrible icky cold and work related craziness. I considered two catch ups today but I am too tired and tonight is my first free night this week (Sorry...)

But any way the lipstick, today's lipstick is a complete different to most I have shown so far and it is a shade that if you had told me two years ago I would own this lipstick and love it... I would have laughed in your face... Today's lipstick is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the colour Black Cherry
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the colour Black Cherry

Ever been on the hunt for a dark vampy red (with a touch of purple), you've got it in this lipstick. It is a similar colour I think to MAC Hang Up so if you have one, you probably don't need the other.

I really like this colour because it draws attention to my lips which are one of my favourite parts of me. I think this lipstick looks great with a plain outfit as it gives the lipstick it's time to shine.

This lipstick has a very creamy, slightly glossy finish to it, which is something I really like but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. What do you think?

See you tomorrow (hopefully)

30 Days 30 Lipsticks Day #9 Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Romance

Hello there,

Today's lipstick comes a little late in the day but it is still the 9th so I'm alright. The lipstick is a snazzy one, which I bought from a blog sale way back when I started blogging and it's a Chanel Lipstick (look at me being all snazzy).

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Romance

The Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks are very balmy and glossy. I think I'd liken them to Revlon Lip Butters. I have to say I actually prefer Revlon Lip Butters... controversial I know.

The colour pay off of this lipstick is a very muted. I would say a little bridal in appearance. For the price of a Chanel Lipstick, I would like to have a bit more pigmentation for my bucks..

What do you think of this lipstick?

30 Days 30 Lipsticks Day #8 Maxfactor Ruby Tuesday

Hello there,

Day 8 and today I bring you a most gorgeous red lipstick, it is Maxfactor Ruby Tuesday. A sunday is normally spent without make up, however today was slightly different but more of that to follow...

I love a red lip, I am a lovely of all things vintage and vintage inspired and I don't think you can get any more vintage inspired than a cherry red lip.

The Maxfactor Ruby Tuesday lipstick has a moisturising feel to it and it leaves the lips looking gorgeous and glossy. It glides on smoothly and evenly without any hint of a drag and as you can see it is a very pigmented lipstick.

Lasting time on the lips is around the 4 hour mark, which is standard for lipsticks on my lips.

What do you think?

30 Days 30 Lipsticks Day #6 MAC Violetta

Hello there,

So the past few days have been rather muted as I have been taking the pictures before I drive to work at 7.30am and I don't want to scare the children with nearly black lips, however todays lipstick is something I just put on to show the beauty of it... so I put it on after work.

Today's lipstick is MAC Violetta, a true purple lipstick which is a Pro Lipstick. This doesn't mean you have to be a professional to get it, it just means you can only get it in a Pro Store. In the UK there are two Pro stores in London, I'm not sure if there are any other anywhere else.

MAC Violetta

The lipstick has an Amplified Creme finish, which means that it has a very creamy feel to it and a little bit of a glossy look. It is my favourite finish of all the MAC Lipstick finishes.

I love the colour too... Purple is one of my favourite colours as you might be able to tell from my background, until last year I wouldn't have dared to put it on my lips. However, I really love wearing lipsticks like this one as I think that it works well with my pale skin, dark hair and brown eyes.

What do you think of Violetta?

Love,

30 Days 30 Lipsticks #5 Natural Collection Lipstick in Rose Bud

Hello there,

It's day 5 and today I bring you a very special lipstick to me, not because its an expensive lipstick or anything wild but it is because it is a reincarnation of the first lipstick I ever had.

When I was being introduced to make up, something that happened rather late in my teenage life (my mum isn't a big make up wearer, god knows how I've become so obsessed), all my make up was really cheap, apart from my first foundation, which was from a brand called Almay and was relatively expensive by high street standards because growing up my skin was very sensitive.

Back to the matter in hand....This lipstick retails for around £1.90 ish so its really cheap and I really like the colour too. Its a slightly darker than my lips pink, a really simple day to day lipstick.

Not the greatest picture but I hope you get the picture with the lipstick.
Have you tried a Natural Collection Lipstick?

Love,

30 Lipstcks 30 Days #4 Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

Hello there,

Day four has arrived and today I bring you a Revlon Lip Butter. I really like the Revlon Lip Butters as they are rather conditioning and creamy on the lips and the pigmentation of the products are decent, depending on which shades you try.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

I wore this lipstick quite a lot last year around this time as it is a great autumn pink as it is a bright pink, and I very much enjoy my bright lips, but its a little bit darker which is what I tend to go for when the weather gets colder and the days get shorter.

The finish of this lipstick is very glossy and it can be a bit sticky, thanks to its butter like qualities but I think the stickyness actually helps to keep the colour intact for longer.

What do you think of this lipstick?

30 Days 30 Lipsticks #3 YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige

Hello there,

It's the third day of my 30 day lipstick challenge. Today I bring you a lipstick which has the most beautiful packaging in the world and that is the YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige.

It's a nude which I actually wore to school, thus the lazy bun hair style and comfy jumper... my work specialities.

Nude Beige does what it says on the tin, its a nude. However I don't see it as beige. I find that the lipstick has a pink undertone rather than a beige one. Its a perfect nude for me as it is just a little lighter than my natural lip colour so I love pulling this lipstick out when I rock a darker eye.

Formula wise, you thought Cremesheens/amplified creme finishes from MAC were creamy.... you've not seen creamy and hydrating until you've tried these lipsticks. Staying power is around 3/4 hours which isn't bad for me  but if you want to look fancy, you will definitely look posh if you pull this lipstick out of your bag.

This lipstick is a pricy one as it retails for around the £23 mark but I love to wear this lipstick out and about because I feel special when I wear it.

What do you think of this lipstick?
